Top 5 Heroes of Tollywood in 2013: A Year in Review
A
year in Review for Bengali Cinema is always a positive thing for the industry and 2013 has been no different!
From within a myriad of films like Shabdo, Chander Pahar, Rangbazz, Boss, Hanuman.com, Mishawr Rahasya, Hawa Bodol, C/o Sir, Aborto, Meghe Dhaka Tara, etc. - the achiever's list is quite long!
We at Tollywood Dhamaka take a look back at 2013 with our ranking of the Top 5 Heroes of Tollywood in the last year:
At no.5 would be Abir Chatterjee, who had few releases this last year but performed extremely well in all of them. From the supporting acts in Aborto, Meghe Dhaka Tara, Aashbo Aarek Din; we think it's time he moved on to being the lead and carrying a film on his shoulders!
At no. 4 would be Saswata Chatterjee for his ability to fulfil the demands of completely different roles under different directors in different films – versatility but without the risks perhaps a star like Prosenjit takes. From playing the lead in Meghe Dhaka tara, C/o Sir; to supporting an ensemble in Aborto, Proloy, Ashchorjyo Prodip, etc. he has done it all! We look forward to his films in 2014 as we are sure the juggernaut will keep rolling!
At no.3 would be the veteran himself, Prosenjit Chatterjee for his sheer versatility and for the risks he is prepared to take in films of which the critical and commercial outcome remains totally a mystery. Mishawr Rahasya and Hanuman.com remain a testament to this fact! We now look forward to Jaatishwar and beyond from this versatile actor!
At no.2 will be a heat-throb turned brave-heart - Dev for being able to carry Chander Pahar on his shoulders in his first out-of-the-box role over seven years spent in hollow and synthetic masala films. Having said that we are also proud of the fact that his films Khoka 420 and Rangbazz has set the Box Office on fire this last year. Trying to hit the right balance,we think!
And finally, the no.1 position would invariably belong to Ritwick Chakraborty – for Shobdo – brilliance in a unique role within the history of Bengali cinema! He was equally brilliant in Bakita Byaktigoto andPhoring and we think we have a true numero uno on our hands even in 2014!
So, who else made it to our Power Rankings? keep watching this space for more!!
